Amager Strandpark

NE, E, SE

The most beautiful beaches north of paradise with showers, toilets, bike paths, and absolutely no rocks. Kite surfing is officially ghettoed to area #4 on the open sea. However, as the danish sun and wind rarely mingle neither do kites and bathers. Unfortunately, only winds from the east are decent.

The Metro station is expected to open in October 2007. Three busses run along Amager Strandvej: 12, 77, and 78.

Sydvestpynten

SE, SE, S, SW, W, NW

Thin, stinky beach with poor accessibility, some large rocks and restricted areas, but relatively good wind and friendly crowds. Ford a meter-plus lagoon (or walk to the left ten minutes along electric fence). Rocks are marked with flags and tubes. Surfers should stay out of and away from the bay to the right and should not go past the dock on the left due to protected bird breeding grounds. Western winds tend to be significantly stronger than those reported by Kastrup Airport (video, METAR/TAF reports 0.5 Kb).

Take Metro to Ørestad station (toward Vestamager, 15 minutes from centrum). Take bus 32 to Sydvestpynten (17 minutes, first bus from Ørestad 6.25, last bus back 23.44, runs about once an hour). Send an SMS to 1250 with “S Ørestad L 32″ or “S Sydvestpynten L 32″ for the next two buses to or from Sydvestpynten (add ” K 1200″ to get the next bus after 12.00).
